This project is realized in the Department of Physical Anthropology of Peter the Great Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography (Kunstkammer) of the Russian Academy of Science (http://www.kunstkamera.lanck.ru).
The idea of this project is connected with the participation of the anthropological group in the Russian-Yemeni complex expedition and the treatment of material collected in the course of the field research.
The project is supported by the Open Society Institute (Soros Foundation)
grant OAH811 and the Russian Foundation for Humanitarian Research (http://www.rfh.ru) # 97-01-12034b
The database encompasses references on biological anthropology of the Middle East (with the focus on the Arabian Peninsula) as well as a number of works on ethnography, archaeology and history of this region. It also includes a number of anthropological works on the adjacent geographical regions: Southwest Asia, Hindustan, Africa.
The present database allows to conduct the following types of work: alphabetical search for authors as well as the search by the predefined keywords for the works of a particular author. There is a list of keywords on geographical regions and countries, the subject of research and the historical period.
The data base contains information on most magazines that publish articles on anthropology, archaeology and ethnography of the Middle East and the adjacent regions.
Users can place the selected records in the Personal Publication Set and both view and print them in a brief or full view mode. Users can copy the selected records for academic purposes. However, users can not copy the complete database without its authors' permission.
About all notes concerning the functioning of the database, its completeness and contents as well as suggestions on adding new records please
write to Yuri Chistov [Y.Chistov@pobox.spbu.ru].
